Weight Loss Tips

While there are many diets to choose from, regulating blood sugar is the best way to lose weight. By stabilizing blood sugar, one is able to minimize the amount of insulin being secreted in the body, which inhibits the storage of body fat.

When insulin and blood sugar levels are high, the body will be in a “fat-storing” mode. The muscles only have a certain capacity to take in glucose/sugar/carbohydrate, and then that capacity is reached, the excess glucose/sugar/carbohydrate is carried to the liver where triglycerides (storage form of fat) is pumped out. On the other hand, when blood sugar levels fall too low, however, the body will also be inclined to store fat because it thinks it is being starved. Finding the happy medium is where weight loss is achieved.

So, how do you regulate blood sugar? Follow these 5 easy steps:

1. Eat 3 meals and 2-3 snacks per day
2. Never let more than 3 hours go by without eating
3. Keep your portion sizes in check
4. Limit juice, caffeine, sugar, and alcohol
5. Consume protein with every meal and snack
