Each team takes EVERY OTHER LINE (I’ve indicated T1 and T2 for teams 1 & 2) and the workout is done for time.

Here’s an upper-body blast workout by Ron Betta; a <a href="http://theworkout.com/fitness-tips/"target="_self"title="fitness tips" >Fitness Lifestyle Coach based in Orlando, Florida and author of Outstanding You: Discover, Design and Achieve Ultimate Fitness. You can visit Ron’s blog here.

You can do this workout every third day to stay conditioned. It’s a simple workout that really challenges the chest, back and arms. It’s a pyramid type routine. In it, we do 2 push-ups for each pull-up. The goal is to see how high you can get your reps. Because you’re dropping for push-ups and jumping up for pull-ups, your heart rate will jump as well!

Start by doing one pull-up followed by 2 push ups. After that, each number doubles until you’ve maxed out your upper body.

Pull-up, Push -up:

1, 2

2, 4

3, 6

4, 8

5, 10

6, 12

When you have maxed out your arms, back and chest, drop for either: 20 jumping lunges, 25 crunches, or 50 jumping jacks. This gives the arms a little time to recover and gets your heart rate nice and high. When complete, it’s time to reverse the numbers to finish the full upper body blast workout!

Pull-up, Push-Up:

I have to be honest, I’m not super excited about doing today’s workout but I know how important power and endurance is for overall <a href="http://theworkout.com/fitness-tips/"target="_self"title="fitness tips" >fitness stamina and strength. Sprinting hills is one of my worst nightmares. It reminds me of my football days at Fresno State. But the feeling I get when it’s all over is unbelievably rewarding! Not to mention if you fit in these sprint workouts into your regular workout routine, you will see amazing results in your legs; sleek, strong and sexy legs!

Warm up: jog 800 meters (or 2 laps at 50%), 20 air squats, 20 push ups, 20 knees to elbows, then run 400 meters at 60%

Sprint Workout Routine:

- Most of you will be using a treadmill, but if you have that dreaded hill in your neighborhood, back yard or by your club, use it!

- 400 meters or 1 lap at 10% elevation & as fast as you can go – your max! The rest period will be for 3 minutes with the elevation at 0% incline and a fast walking pace.

- repeat this 7 times!

- These are max effort sprints so please make sure you are really warmed up before going 90 – 100%. If you are using a treadmill record your time at the end of the 7th sprint, you don’t need to add the 3 minute rest.

Thought for Today: Friendship, what does that mean to you?
