These fitness tips will help you meet your new physical fitness goals. You will first need to make a few mental and psychological adjustments to your daily life. These small but crucial changes will help you achieve any fitness goal you have in mind.
And… ACTION! In order to be healthy you have to get off your butt and get moving. In order to enjoy the benefits of regular physical activity you have to have regular activity, take action now to get where you what to be. Did you know pet rats will run a marathon every night if given a running wheel, we all know dogs will pester to be taken for a walk. Children like to run around, play games, and explore the outdoors. But once we reach age five we’re shoved into classrooms and forced to sit, be still, and listen. As we age we tend to prefer less physical activity. The couch and TV are more attractive to us than a brisk walk. Get out and get moving! It may take awhile for the cobwebs to clear out, but your body will thank you for getting out and exercising and in the end you’ll be glad you did because the benefits of daily physical activity are many.
Set your exercise goals and deadlines for yourself. I will workout 3 times a week instead of 2 times a week. I will be able to walk a 15 minute mile in three weeks. I will reduce my lap time by 0.5 seconds. I will push myself to run for 10 minutes longer. The bottom line is you will achieve what you have set your mind to. For instance, take an arrow and shoot it at an empty target and what do you get, nothing. However, if you take that same arrow and aim for a bulls-eye you are going to make a hit. So decide what is right for you- remember your own limitations and set your exercise goals within reach. (If you have been exercising consistently then it may be unreasonable to set a goal to loose 20 pounds in a month). What do you want to achieve in the next week? Month? 3 months? 6 months? Year? Setting these time lines will help you stay focused and bring your fitness goal within reach.
Be consistent. Daily practice, daily actions and consistent behavior are essential to progression. You must consistently put forth the effort to succeed. Consistent behavior, actions, and practice develop and bring about the results we set for ourselves and commit to. Commitment requires a consistent approach. Even if your workout calls for an hour of yoga and you only have time for 30 minutes, then you do the 30 minutes. Then you can smile because you followed through with your commitments and continued your daily practice with consistent application of the plan.
Join a group, be accountable. It helps to have someone that you are accountable to, that will help you not only help you achieve your goal but they’ll provide you will help, support, encouragement, and motivate you to stick with your commitments. This may mean having a person who coaches you, having a nutritionist, a counselor, or a workout partner. As long as you have someone that you trust and will hold you accountable for your actions as will as your inactions.
Commitment yourself, fully and completely, to your goals. What do goals and deadlines mean if you are not willing to commit to seeing them through? What could be more important than committing to your health and well-being? In order to achieve in life you need to commit, you need to follow through and make it happen. Stand by your goals. Hold your self to your deadlines. Remember, this is for your own health and well-being. Don’t you deserve to be healthy?
To be successful in your new exercise endeavors just get out and get moving! Once you’ve accomplished getting out and moving, remember to set goals for you daily physical activity routines. so you can feel a sense of accomplishment every once in awhile. Remember to follow through, even when you feel like you may not have the hour you wanted to devote to the treadmill, get in what you can and you’ll be amazed at how easy it becomes. If exercising alone isn’t your style or you are the kind of person that had difficulty remembering to get out and run, get a partner or join an exercise class. The group environment where you have friends you look forward to seeing and that will notice when you have or haven’t been meeting your goals can really help add joy and companionship into the exercise dynamic. Finally, just remember this exercise plan is for you and you alone so commit to it.
The benefits of physical activity are worth your time and the healthier you will thank you.
