No Green Onions…

“The minute you settle for less than you deserve, you get even less than you settled for.”  ~Maureen Dowd

I am Joe green onions
Joe you know.
Joe who does not like green onions.

Do you like green onions?
I do not like them here or there.
I do not like them anywhere.
I do not like green onions.

Would you eat them in a hat?
Would you feed them to your cat?
I would not eat them in a hat.
I would not feed them to my cat.
Heck, I would not even eat them in a lettuce wrap!

Don’t try to mask them by using other names
Scallions, leeks, shallots, to me they are all the same
I know what I like, so don’t try and convince me,
That I will learn to like them without even wincing.

I’ll bet you all think I’ve lost it, right? My intense workouts have finally sent me over the edge! Well, forgive me Dr. Seuss…but a friend of mine was joking about me being so adamant about not liking green onions in anything. So we decided it would be fun to turn it into a blog.

Anyone who is close to me and who has shared a meal with me knows that I don’t like green onions. In fact, the servers in every PF Chang’s I’ve ever visited probably know it. I even had one try to tell me that there were no green onions in their lettuce wraps, and low and behold…they were wrong.

compromise Although I realize I’m being silly in making this point, I know what I like and what I don’t, and I’ve learned to not settle – whether it’s green onions or fulfilling my life purposes. There is a difference between compromise and settling, and I’m all about compromise when the situation calls for it. Sometimes you have to give a little in order to yield the best end result. But when the option is there to get what you know you want in your heart of hearts, you just have to stand your ground.

Maybe you have a picture in your mind of how you want your life to turn out. That’s a good start – visualization is key because if you can’t see yourself living that dream, then you’ll never achieve it. Once you understand your life purposes, and you have that vision embedded not only in your brain but in your heart, there should be nothing that prevents you from achieving that goal. Someone may come along and offer a substitute or an extra ingredient for your life purpose that may be an easier solution or a quick fix, but you know what it takes to make you successful; therefore, you know you must stand your ground. Often we give up too quickly and settle and are left feeling unfulfilled and with less than what we settled for to begin with!

beach Do you want to see yourself living life in its highest capacity? Do you want to  experience success in relationships, career opportunities, or wellness? Then don’t settle for anything less. Everything worthwhile is hard work and there are no short cuts, even though the media tries to tell us otherwise. Once you tap into your recipe for success in any area of life, know that you have the power in you to make it happen. And if someone tries to tell you there are no green onions in it, send it back. You know what you want and you deserve to get it!

Ahh, such refreshing words! I’m finally getting the hang of going for what I want and taking charge, not settling. It took awhile to learn, but I’ve still got a lot of living to do, so I’m exciting about my future plans! Awesome (but the onions part). LOL!

Well said my friend!! Even in the face of seeming adversity, is there really any other “good” choice except to know what you want, go for it, and NOT settle for less??? p.s. I don’t like green onions either.. :-)
